Synopsis

Amid the chaos of a crumbling nation in the twilight of World War II, a teenage boy named Seita and his younger sister Setsuko find themselves navigating the harsh realities of survival after losing their mother to the devastation of war. Stripped of familial ties and isolated from their previous comforts, the siblings seek refuge in a dilapidated shelter, hidden away from the remnants of a society in turmoil. As they scavenge for sustenance and warmth, their bond is tested by the relentless grip of hunger and despair, forcing them to confront the stark contrast between their fading childhood and the stark brutality of their new existence.
